Re: VL-Web/VLF-One/WAM Multi-tier Installation using IBM iSeries

Hi Nick,

No, there is not a workaround available.
Your pre-V14 web applications can also use a Windows or Linux web server for multi-tier with an IBM i application tier, so this could be considered as an option. This might also offer better security and performance.

Diane

Re: VL-Web/VLF-One/WAM Multi-tier Installation using IBM iSeries

Hi Nick,

You definitely do not need to change anything for existing web applications when upgrading to LANSA V14, they can continue to use an IBM i Web Server tier in a multi-tier setup. To be clear, all web applications built with pre-V14 web technologies will continue to support the use of an IBM ...

Re: What Happens when you "Deliver To"

Hi Joe,

The answer to Assuming we use an Export List to move the components, will the same issue not occur? is no.
Here are some of the reasons why:

Export can ship compiled objects (the same objects that were used for testing) so there are not separate jobs required to compile objects when ...

Re: how to upgrade lansa level. as/400

The easiest path would be to install a new LANSA V14 SP1 system on your new IBM i 7.3 machine and then import your objects that you have exported from the V7.5 system on the i5/OS V5R4 machine.

Re: Deliver To Frameworks and Groups

Hi Joe,

"Deliver To" or "Check In" does not send any Framework or Group definitions to the remote system.
It also does not matter if the Framework/Group is present on the remote system, although you would normally have a standard set of Frameworks/Groups that you use for your software so they ...

Re: VL Frameworks and Groups

Hi Joe,

Most of these Frameworks and Groups would have come from imports that did not exclude all Frameworks and Groups from the exporting system.
All but the system flagged Frameworks and Groups can be safely deleted from LANSA for i if you are not referencing them.

They can be deleted via the ...

Re: Better support for VL object names on System i.

Hi,

LANSA for i 5250 display files are somewhat constrained, so the 256 bytes for long names precludes their use in the default display for these LANSA for i lists, Work with Visual LANSA Objects and the Export displays, Add Visual LANSA components to list and Review/Delete Objects in List.
