Re: LANSA V15 Report field issue

Already logged this with LANSA Support, will let you know what comes of it. This issue comes up when opening the Report Function in the VL IDE, that's using the #DATE field in the DEF_HEAD definition. If you want to test, create a simple function in VL V14SP2, that uses the #DATE field in a DEF_HEAD...

LANSA V15 Report field issue

Converting a large application to LANSA V15 and discovered this issue. Using the LANSA Shipped #DATE field in a Report Function, I see that the total occupied width in V15 is now 25 bytes, with spaces filled between the label and value e.g. "Date.............99/99/99". While in LANSA V14, the same g...

Need to multithread the LANSA IDE

There's a big need for the LANSA IDE to multithread operations such as much as possible. e.g. 1. When updating a VCS install with all the changes coming from a master repository. On a single thread (as it runs today), it takes 6 to 8 hours to refresh my partition, which is just too long. It would be...

Re: LANSA runtime Licensing problem with VM's

We are using V13SP2 EPC133200, V14SP2 EPC142040 without the new licensing implementation EPC and V15 too with EPC140030.

LANSA runtime Licensing problem with VM's

Hi Guys, I wonder if this is an issue that other LANSA folks face, using VM's? It causes an unacceptable downtime when it happens. Say you have 5 development servers, all of which are VM's. Residing in a hybrid Cloud environment. Developers compile and test changes on these. All 5 VM's are all licen...

Re: Issue with VL V15 opening large VCS repository

Core usage around 60%+ on both cores, at most times when this update occurs. Using SSD drives (500+ MB/S read/write) so absolutely no stress on HDD usage (Task Manager HDD Active Time never goes above 30%). No network utilization in this case (it's all local). Both LANSA and SQL Server are on the sa...

Re: Issue with VL V15 opening large VCS repository

Thanks Brendan, I made sure none of the compile options were selected. Otherwise the whole process could have taken a couple of days to complete. In case LANSA R&D team takes notice: I will recommend making use of multiple CPU cores in this exercise (updating the LANSA repository based on YML file c...

Issue with VL V15 opening large VCS repository

I have a large LANSA repository (over 41,000 objects). When I refresh my VL repository with a new set of YML files, the IDE takes hours to auto-update this full list. However, if there's an error during this update procedure e.g. the IDE crashes with a LANSA.DMP output, then the whole process has to...

Re: Last Action Details, where are they stored?

Would have been nice to have received a response on this one. LANSA should consider adding an export list filter on the IBMi that shows a list of exports that were created between a pair of dates.

Last Action Details, where are they stored?

I'm looking to run a query against the LANSA internal table that stores last action details for Export Lists and Functions. I'd like to produce a list of all Export lists that were created/modified after a certain date, same for Functions etc. Does anyone know where the "Last Action details" informa...

Any Development Teams using LANSA with VCS?

Just opening a thread for folks that are using LANSA environments with a VCS system (GIT/TFS). Some pertinent questions. Q1: How do you use your VCS for code comparisons and merges? Any issues/watchouts? Q2: How do you manage development to QA source code and compiled object movements? Q3: Work with...

Vote for Documentation change

I'd like to vote for the addition of a single web page listing ALL the BIF's that are currently available within LANSA, along with their brief descriptions. The current page is cumbersome to navigate. If we can get a single page, one could open it and search for a keyword in there and see the releva...

Re: Where is DC@OSVEROP in Windows?

Thanks Casey, do you know where this setting would be stored in a runtime environment (no IDE installed)? Would this setting be relevant for a runtime environment?

Re: Where is DC@OSVEROP in Windows?

Specifically looking for the equivalent of this setting on Windows: Relax restrictions on trigger functionality . . . : N In case some settings are not relevant to Windows, then that should be mentioned in the documentation. This has been done in other places too, when you look under "Portability co...

Where is DC@OSVEROP in Windows?

Anyone know where data area DC@OSVEROP settings are stored in a Windows environment?
I suspect it's in an internal table or .dat file somewhere?
The documentation is IBMi centric when it comes to these settings and ignores the Windows platform.

Saving a Text Search takes minutes

So I ran a text search in my VL IDE's (V13SP2 and V14SP2), it gave me 430 matches, I clicked to save them. It took around 5 minutes to save each list. Should it take that long to save such a list in the IDE? I wonder what it's doing under the hood to take up so much CPU and time to save the list?

Better Text Search in the IDE

It would be great if the Text Search feature was multithreaded, such that one thread could search for say Forms, while another thread searched for Functions etc. If the user could set the number of threads, that would be icing on the cake. In todays world of multiple CPU cores, this would be a welco...

Re: Intelligent Check-Out

Thanks Joe I our case, multiple developers work on the same coding assignments across multiple timezones. Managing multiple Task_ID's in this context becomes a nightmare. It has been tried and becomes very unproductive after a while. Hence the suggestion to build some intelligence into the check-out...

Intelligent Check-Out

Working in a Shared Visual LANSA development environment Say you attempt to Check-Out an object in error, forgetting that you had made changes to it previously that were not yet checked-in. The Checkout process should look at the datetime stamps on the current VL code and issue an alert message that...

Re: Is Select faster than Selectlist?

Your SELECT is reading 1000 records using a KEY, whereas your SELECTLIST is reading 10X more records and evaluating a WHERE clause. In other words, the SELECTLIST has to check each and every record in the working list. That would explain the performance difference. If you run the same SELECTLIST, wi...
