Re: Working with DLLs

The name looks like the DLL might be exposed as .NET component.
Did you try enrolling it in your repository?

Re: VL Framwork Private Connection

I don’t have a code sample so all I can offer is some pointers to the things you might need to use. avPrivateConnect is normally used to establish a super-server session with a remote server, so I am going to assume that is what you need to do. Let me know if it’s something else. You use your own cu...

Re: Startup all Business Objects under Favourites with one click in VLF

Have you experimented with putting an avSwitch operation into your IIP's MainWindowread method? I think this can be used to automatically open something when a user logs on. http://docs.lansa.com/14/en/lansa048/index.htm#lansa/lansa048_5620.htm http://docs.lansa.com/14/en/lansa048/index.htm#lansa/la...

A question about doing development on laptops

Hi

I was wondering if any of you work all day building applications using only a laptop?

ie: A laptop that is not plugged into bigger screen(s), a real mouse, etc.

If you do - what sort of resolution do you run the laptop screen at?

Thanks.

Re: Changing Library in Server Module

I'm not sure where program CHGLIBL fits into this? Did you create this program? You could try something like this: Mthroutine Name(Test) #COM_OWNER.ChangeLibraryList To("QGPL LIBRARY1 LIBRARY2 LIBRARY3") Endroutine Mthroutine Name(ChangeLibraryList) Access(*PRIVATE) Define_Map For(*input) Class(#pri...

Re: Need Advice on Specifying RAMP-One folder name in VLF-ONe at runtime

The RAMP and logon server default values that VLF-ONE uses at execution time are saved into your xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx_LLL_VLFONE_ Definition .DAT file from the server definition that is tagged as the deployment server ……. capture1.png So if you had your test server and production server both defined you ...

See attached DF_T42H2O reusable part's method uCheckUnsavedChanges for an example of how this might be done.

Re: VLF-ONE uExecute method invocation

Hi David - yes that is acting as designed (same as VLF-WIN I think). If your command handler is sitting on "dirty" unsaved data then you need to check for that in both contexts - whenever your are asked to execute a command, or when you are asked to close.

Re: Changing Library in Server Module

You might do this as a small CL (Control Language) program which is easy to call from an RDMLX LANSA program. It could retrieve the L4Web job’s current library list and examine it via RTVJOBA command’s URSLIBL parameter. Then after deciding what libraries need to be added (or removed) it can use ADD...

Re: VLF-ONE Inactivity log off timeout and uQueryCanClose

Your uQueryCanClose method shoudl have a boolean parameter Canbecancelled passed to it. If this is passed false then you cannot cancel the close and must always return parameter Allow (to be closed) as True You can however do things that do not require user interaction before returning control. You ...

Re: autoincrement primary key

I am a big fan of using *GUID as a unique identifying key.

http://docs.lansa.com/14/en/lansa015/in ... 4_0120.htm

The value is unique so there are no issues with duplicates, even across multiple server databases and networks.

Re: VLF-ONE - Maximized command handlers

I am pretty sure that issue was corrected in the EPC141006 VLF version.
Could you check that you are still using the previous version EPC140006?

Re: Active VLF user

A very basic way to store passwords is in a data base table keyed by user profile and with an encrypted composite password key and a date of last update. The composite password key is formatted something like UserProfile=PlainTextPassword=DateUpdated (say) and then the whole thing is encrypted using...

On the client side you can access #uSystem.FrameworkLoggedOnVisibleUserProfile which is what you logon validation routine returned and #uSystem,FrameworkPlatformU which is what the actual user profile was on the sign on dialog. Sending client side values to the server carries a small risk of tamperi...

Re: VL Web library list on IBM i

If you are using VLF-ONE an approach to library list management is suggested here http://docs.lansa.com/14/en/lansa048/index.htm#lansa/how%20can%20i%20replace%20the%20ibm%20i%20library%20list%20used%20in.htm That approach probably applies equally to non-VLF applications. If you are using VLF-ONE the...
