Re: VLF One Parent adding child objects to Instance list

One final thing to consider about parent and child instance lists. VLF-ONE has some new list visualization options that might mean you don't have to define parents and children like you do in VLF-WIN. Sometime you can just use a simple a simple 'flat' instance list, but still have children present i...

Re: VLF One Parent adding child objects to Instance list

You mentioned you are using a #VF_AC023O snap in part to dynamically expand your instance list relationships (ie: add children when the user requests they be displayed, rather than adding them all at the time your filter searches for relevant data). It might worth considering the centralization of a...

Re: VLF One Parent adding child objects to Instance list

Most common forms of access are: * All items in order added ... For Each(#Item) In(#AVLISTMANAGER.DataItemsbyUII) If (#Item *IsNot *null) /* Very important to skip deleted items */ Endif Endfor * All items in key order - noting NKeys are stored in aggregate key as strings so order is 1,10,11,2,3 ......

Re: VLF One Parent adding child objects to Instance list

This might take a few iterations because there’s quite a few things covered in your post. Re: “but I can't figure out what to put in that parm to reference to the parent.” When you add a new item using #AvListManager.AddtoList it returns you a reference to the item just added in the DataItem paramet...

Re: Getting a VLF Windows users Groups list

VLF authority is only designed to go down to individual command handler level.
To control authority within individual command handlers you could use custom properties.
Custom properties need to be set individually for each user- they are not inherited from any groups the user might belong to.

Re: Visual Appearance of Windows VLF

2014 Clean is the plainest and simplest one currently available in VLF-WIN. There are plans to bring the VLF-ONE look and feel, and possibly more significantly, its enhanced functional capabilities into the Windows VLF version, but that won’t start to be done until the initial tranche of planned VLF...

Doing more elaborate VLF-ONE prototyping and design

The attached reusable part DF_T64H1O can be used as VLF-ONE command handler to demonstrate more elaborate prototypes and designs to end users or peer developers. Here’s an example of how it could be used. First I used MS-PowerPoint to create 3 slides and saved them as PNG image files. These were cop...

Re: VLF-ONE Commands not showing in Instance Window

I think it’s an issue with the VLF version you are using. If you uncheck the Show on Instance List Tool Bar option on the Commands Allowed tab for a command handler, then it disappears from above the instance list and as a tab in the command handler window, which is not correct behavior. The correct...

Re: VLF-ONE - the framework as the application.

Your framework has an Imbedded interface point (IIP) identified on the (Framework) -> (Properties) -> Framework Details tab. For example, the shipped demo uses reusable part DF_OSYSTM as its IIP. In your framework's IIP try adding this code to the avMAINWindowReady method: #AVFRAMEWORKMANAGER.avSwit...

Re: VLF-ONE custom logon handler.

I think so – you would just bypass displaying the logon and send the pre-checked credentials on to your server side logon validation program which can do whatever it wants to with them. Do you have any ideas firmed up about how to get the pre-checked credentials from the logon form into your VLF-ONE...

Re: VLF-ONE custom logon handler.

There’s a new VLF-ONE version (EPC140026) that should go GA in the next few weeks. In that version the logon capability has been fairly heavily revised and several new features added - so it would probably be better to defer answering this question until you have that new version. Is that a possibil...

Re: Understanding Commitment Control and Best Practices

In most DBMSs commitment control is generally an all or nothing thing - but somewhat weirdly and historically on the IBM i that is not so. You can have some tables (aka files) under commitment control and some not. The only good reason I have ever heard for using this ‘mixed mode’ was if you had a t...
