Re: VL Web running on mobile device Motorola MC9100

Hi René, It's interesting that you've got a device here that runs Windows. I'm wondering why they would consider moving to a Web Application. In terms of UI Windows and Web are pretty much the same, but running in a Browser is generally more restrictive than running as a Form. There might be other g...

Re: Server modules

Hi Bill, the server is (blissfully) unaware of what's going on in the client, it gets a request and that request either contains a session-id or it doesn't. The default behavior in Visual LANSA is for that session-id to be passed in and out in the payload of each request. Your Reusable Parts work be...

Re: Server modules

Hi Bill, A bit of experimenting with a simple Web Page and a simple Server Module will show you easily enough how persistence works. I would start there and try a couple of scenario's. Feel free to post any questions that arise from that, with some sample RDMLX or a bit of a description of what you'...

Re: Pass values to a *WEBPAGE

Hi Art,

Just define/use the fields in the page... the SrvRoutine's output maps will get mapped in automatically when the page comes alive.

Re: About URLs and the generated HTML

Hi Faridah,

Yes, the ShowPart method expects a Reusable Part.
A Web Page expects to be the whole page (or the whole frame if you show it in an iframe).

Maybe it would be easier to put an iframe on your page and point it to a web page url.

It all depends on what you're trying to achieve.

Re: Input filed IME control

Hi Megumi, it should already bring up the numeric keyboard for numeric fields, if it doesn't on a particular device it's probably a bug. But all alpha-numeric fields will be the same when it comes to bringing up the keyboard. I'm not aware of any technique to instruct the browser to bring up a DBCS ...

Re: About URLs and the generated HTML

Hi Faridah, if you want Visual LANSA to just fill a div on an HTML page, you'll need to use LANSA.showPart instead of LANSA.showPage and you nominate a Reusable Part to show and a div to show it in.. See http://docs.lansa.com/14/en/lansa017/index.htm#lansa/vlwebeng01_0580.htm Cheers, Danny

Re: VL-Web session compatibility with WAM session

Hi Faridah,

it is deliberate omission.

As far as I know it doesn't add any benefits over the Session ID travelling as part of the JSON payload into a Server Routine, which is the default.

I'm happy to be proven wrong though :), if you've got a use case for it let me know...

Re: VL-Web session compatibility with WAM session

Hi Faridah, Note that I was talking about the WAM client- side. Instead of navigating to the ENTRY WebRoutine from your client-side code (I guess it's a button-click), and then trying a Transfer (which indeed doesn't work between WAM's and Server Modules), try going straight to DBDATALIS/ShowPage as...

Re: VL-Web session compatibility with WAM session

Hi Marco,

yes, it requires EPC 140010.

It's CCS ID 0155186 in http://www.lansa.com/support/notes/epc/epc140010.htm

Re: DPI-Aware Development

Hi Quinton, DPI awareness will be fixed in 14 SP1. It's a LANSA issue, so there's not much you can do right now. Once you have 14.1, it will depend on the Render Type parameter how your application will scale. - Render Type 'W" (Win32) will just scale the application pixel by pixel. - Render Type 'X...

Re: web page- column heading manipulation

Hi, just in case anyone is interested (other than me, syntax and semantics of different programming languages are a bit of a hobby of mine :) ) There are situations where RDMLX allows both a value- AND a reference-assignment, as in the example below. They mean different things, and it's only because...

Re: Dates and locale in the browser

Hi Allan,

it turned out the incorrect format of the 'Today' caption was hard-coded into the LANSA runtime. Not much you can do about that.

The issue will be fixed in the upcoming service pack.

Re: V14 documentation

Hi, it's enough to just set the Image to Spinner to get the default LANSA spinner. The Resource value is there if you want to provide your own gif. It becomes visible if loading all initial resources for your Web Page takes longer than a second, it disappears again as your RDMLX starts executing. Ru...

Re: V14 documentation

It's just a matter of making sure you recompile all parts of your application.... themes, reusable parts, widgets.

It's only an issue if you've been developing on 14GA without any EPC's.

Re: Refresh/Reload Visualization

Hi, All visualizations are basically a combination of a label and a control. If you define a *Visual_Host , you define your own panel to take the place of the control, the label is still created for you. If you define a *Visual_Part , you define your own panel for the whole visualization, LANSA no l...

Re: VL-WEB cache management

Hi Jiri, I just tried your scenario and it works for me. Do you get any useful information at all if you use the browser's development tools (F12) and look at the console while you refresh the page? The console will log the application cache behaviour. Note: if the app-cache is different LANSA will ...
