Working With Multiple Layouts

A problem I have when having multiple layouts is getting the controls/fields in the right layoutitem for the different layouts. Even though I can toggle the active layout, all the controls still show in the designer and it gets really difficult trying to move controls from one layoutitem into anothe...

Re: Why is Visual LANSA ranked so highly by the developer community?

I am a little confused on what you are asking. Are you asking why it is rated so highly or are you asking to vote for it in G2Crowd? I think the market share issue is that most think that LANSA is for shops with IBM systems. If you are targeting developers in the .NET, Java, NodeJS, Ruby etc. space ...

Re: Generate MD5 in a server module (Windows)

I am not aware of one that you can use directly in LANSA without Integrator. Also, with Integrator, I believe the Hash service is not in the "normal" version and requires a specific license. If you look at your server licenses, you will see what you have access to. Wish they would make it available ...

Re: Feature is not a member of PRIM_LIBI.IVarCharIntrinsics

I did not realize that default properties can be BOTH *AUTO and *REFERENCE, but you are absolutely right. Before I changed the property to be *REFERENCE it worked when I used the default property, but not with any other properties. It took some more investigation in the docs to realize the error. I ...

Re: Feature is not a member of PRIM_LIBI.IVarCharIntrinsics

Apparently I was defining the property wrong in my application object.

Instead of using *AUTO, I should have been using *REFERENCE.

Code: Select all

define_pty name(CurrentOffice) get(*REFERENCE #CurrentOffice)

Re: autoincrement primary key

Look into the *AUTONUM System Variable. http://docs.lansa.com/14/en/lansa015/index.htm#lansa/ladtgub4_0110.htm and http://docs.lansa.com/14/en/lansa015/index.htm#lansa/crfile8_002.htm Basically you end up creating a new System Variable with a name that starts with "AUTONUM" then a specific conventio...

Re: Using Web History for Panel Navigation

I realize this is an old topic, but I've encountered another issue related to the topic so I thought I would add it here. While adding to the history works as expected regarding navigation, there seems to be an anomaly with other querystring parameters. In essence what I am trying to do is add an en...

Defining Components vs Fields

Something I've struggled with for a while now, but what is the difference in using define_com vs define field? define_com class(#STD_STRNG) name(#myString) and define field(#myString) type(*STRING) Sometimes I have to store a list of strings in a collection so I define it like define_com class(#PRIM...

Good to know. Until then I got it work by defining the fields with the right number of decimals define field(#HoursWorked) type(*SIGNED) length(15) decimals(2) define field(#GrossBillings) type(*SIGNED) length(15) decimals(2) define field(#GrossMargin) type(*SIGNED) length(15) decimals(2) Then when ...

Re: Better Install Experience

My experience with the installer is that it fails (crashes, closes etc.) when .NET 3.5 is not installed and the only way to continue is to get .NET 3.5 installed manually. I've also never had Windows 10 successfully install it through the "Turn Windows features on or off". I've always had to use the...

Better Install Experience

I think it would be very beneficial to have a better install experience. When installing on Windows 10 we having to install .NET 3.5 which requires executing the little known DISM command and having the Windows 10 install media. Then to install Java you have to make sure you get the x64 version whic...

I ended up doing the client search using LeftMost. define field(#length) type(*INT) clr_list named(#ListOffices) #length := #searchValue.CurChars selectlist named(#FindResultList) where(#OFOFIN.UpperCase.LeftMost( #length ) = #searchValue.UpperCase) add_entry to_list(#ListOffices) endselect Its work...

Re: Strategies for loading large datasets on mobile devices

I think the model number is A1458 (I think that is an iPad 4). Stewart, I have some of those ideas and applied them such as reducing the result set to a bare minimum, the only data that is returned and is displayed is a number and name. Since I do have all the data on the client, I am doing the sort...

Strategies for loading large datasets on mobile devices

What strategies do you use to load large datasets onto mobile devices? I have a situation that I got to work, but I am wondering if there is a better way. We have a responsive web page that will primarily be used on an iPad. We need to present the user with a list of "things". Currently there are ab...

Determining scroll position

Is there a way to determine what the scroll position of a list is? Basically I have a unique case where when the user scrolls near the bottom of the list, I need to add more items to the list. I've tapped into the ScrollChanged event, but cannot seem to get any useful information out of it. I was ho...

Re: Case Insensitive SELECT on IBM i

I am not understanding how generic and the like are not the same. In the original query OFOFIN is essentially the name, the File XF110201 is a logical keyed by a type code and the name. If I am looking for all US cities that start with "ALB" and have a logical defined with the key "NAME" then with S...

Re: Case Insensitive SELECT on IBM i

I finally figured out how to do this with the SELECT_SQL. #STD_TEXT := #OFOFIN.UpperCase.Concat( "%" ) select_sql fields(#OFOFID #OFOFIN #OFELVL #OFOTY #OFDFC) from_files((XF110201)) where('UPPER(#OFOFIN) LIKE :STD_TEXT AND #OFOTY = :OFOTY') It works, but its not ideal as you have to specify ALL the...
