VL Web - Remove Focus from List

I have a list of entries, in this case phone numbers. When I delete an entry from the list using dlt_entry, focus is shifted to the first item in the list. This behavior is mentioned in the List-FocusItem documentation http://docs.lansa.com/14/EN/LANSA016/PRIM_LIST_FocusItem.htm . How then, do I rem...

VL Web - Prevent Field changing when "hovering" List Items

I have a panel that on the left side is List control. That control has columns for PhoneDescription and PhoneNumber. On the right side of the panel are the fields PhoneDescription and PhoneNumber along with a save button. What is happening is that if I have multiple entries in the list, mousing over...

Re: Understanding Commitment Control and Best Practices

Thanks for the help. That clarifies things quite a bit. We are using VLF-ONE so anything that would be coordinating the transactions would be done at the server module. I don't know if we need to use the same BIFs that you do in your functions and forms but it gives me a clue as to where to look nex...

Re: Understanding Commitment Control and Best Practices

Hi Mike, Can you elaborate on how you handle errors? For example, in most other languages that support a try/catch/finally block I could do the something like the following pseudo code. transaction = new transaction try insert insert insert transaction.commit catch transaction.rollback finally trans...

Re: V14 documentation

If you are looking to add JQuery, Bootstrap or any other external script or css you need to add them as external resources in LANSA. What I had done was to copy the resource files into the partition web folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\LANSA\X_WIN95\X_LANSA\x_sys\web\vl) and have folders for handlebar...

Re: VLF-ONE Commands not showing in Instance Window

uncheck the Show on Instance List Tool Bar option on the Commands Allowed tab for a command handler, then it disappears from above the instance list and as a tab in the command handler window This is exactly what is happening. I thought it may be in a bug in the VLF but since it seems to work in th...

VLF-ONE Commands not showing in Instance Window

I don't know what I have done wrong, but I cannot seem to get the commands for a business object to show up in the Instance Window. I have a Plant business object and it has the following commands; Details, Address, Phone Numbers, Locations, New and Delete. I am only working with the Details and Add...

VLF-ONE Close Window

How do I close a command handler window?

For example, I have a new "Plant" command handler. After the save is complete, the instance list is updated with the new plant details. I would like the "new" command handler to close.

Understanding Commitment Control and Best Practices

Hi All, I need some help understanding commitment control and the best practices with using it in LANSA. Having said that I am well versed in the use of Transactions and TransactionScope in the .NET world where you would have a begin / end "boundary". The documentation at http://docs.lansa.com/140/E...

That helps.

I am needing to do something akin to the "People" Instance List in the Resource Applications.

Thanks.

Re: VLF Instance List Code Assistant

It almost never fails that I discover something after I post a question. Apparently the assistant is available when using VLF-WIN but is not available with VLF-ONE. You can see this by selecting a business object (not a command handler or filter) and selecting VLF-WIN, notice the Snap In Instance Li...

VLF Instance List Code Assistant

I am using VLF and need to create a custom instance list. The documentation at http://docs.lansa.com/140/EN/LANSA048/index.htm#LANSA/lansa048_0325.htm states that A Code Assistant is shipped with the Framework that will generate a basic instance list browser for you. How do I get to this assistant? ...

How to add a favicon

How do you add a favicon to the web server on an IBM i?

There does not seem to be a way to do this in a LANSA web page, so it looks like it needs to be done at the server.

Re: Deploying to an IBM i when using VCS

Did not think about using the cross references, will have to give that a try.

For now, I have settled on a "feature" list that I add things to and can deploy at once.

Thanks,
Joe

Deploying to an IBM i when using VCS

We use a VCS setup and I need to deploy some objects to our IBM i. Normally I use "Deliver To" to do this and it works great, except that I can only deliver a couple things at a time. For example, if I have 1 web page, 3 reusable parts and 1 server module, I have to do 3 "delivers" (1 for the page, ...

Re: VL-Web Widget with form controls

I had the same problem when trying to integrate with a 3rd party credit card processor. The only way I could make it work, was to create the inputs and selects with RDML and use a custom widget that I would push the data from those inputs into. In my case, the widget would dynamically generate a hid...
