Can we have REGEX(Regular Expressions) method for strings?

Post by Vici0usdice » Wed Sep 21, 2016 7:24 pm

Hi I am wondering if we can have an intrinsic method for strings that can deal with regular expressions.

This can help in validating email formatting.

Example:

#email.RegEx('^[A-Z0-9a-z._%+-]+@[A-Za-z0-9.-]+.[A-Za-z]{2,4}$')

RegEx is the Method, then the 'string inside is the format' - this will return True/False if the #email matches.

Or is this already implemented?

Access to regular expressions is currently under consideration.

If you're making a browser based application, you can create a Widget of type Object and add a method to do the test for you.

I can only say that I would really appreciate RegExes in RDMLX :)
I don't know what I am doing, nor how I did it. If it works, luck was involved :geek:
