Microsoft is today confirming its plans for Progress Web Apps (PWAs) in Windows 10. The company has been talking a lot about PWAs in Windows 10 recently, and the release of Windows 10 Redstone 4 in March/April will mark the beginning of PWAs in Windows.

Is this something that can be of advantage to VLWEB?

Then yeah I think we can take full advantage of it.
I mean really, VL already is a PWA.
If it looks like an app, and runs offline its a PWA (check and check )

I missed any mention of Internet Explorer. Is it planned for Edge only?

I think that MS will be concentrating on Windows 10 with Edge. The big hold outs are corporates with Windows 7 but that is pretty much indefensible in 2018 and will start to change rapidly.

I agree that VLWEb is already close to a PWA but these new developments provide o/s level support for true robust offline standalone applications with access to host devices & storage. The packaging and delivery of apps would be a great improvement - bypassing all those app stores with a single deliverable.

I don't expect LANSA just jump in this direction overnight but the inclusion of base PWA support in a imminent version of Windows 10 makes it really mainstream (sorry google!) and I think within a year or two they will really blow up.

I think LANSA has the people to technically investigate PWAs and build a first class implementation of them. But they they need to start looking now.

My dream is that the IDE will have an option to compile/package web pages as a platform independent deliverable that can be emailed or attached to a webpage as a link.
