One of our customers runs VL applications on a mobile device Motorola MC9100 (see attachment). This is LANSA V13 SP2 at the moment.
They want to upgrade to LANSA V14 SP1 to make use of the latest VL Web techniques of LANSA.
The question is:
Is it possible to run LANSA V14 SP1 VL Web applications on this device?
Does anyone uses V14 VL Web applications in combination with mobile devices?

Re: VL Web running on mobile device Motorola MC9100
Given the enormous number of browsers, versions, devices etc., it is impossible to test them all, and impossible to state categorically what will and won't work.
As a rule of thumb, VL browser applications are expected to run on any device with a modern, up to date browser with JavaScript enabled.
The only explicit stipulation is that Internet Explorer must be at least version 10.

It looks like it is running Windows Mobile?
Do you know what version of Windows Mobile they are running?
Knowing that might lead to some documentation and forums discussing what the inbuilt web browser is capable of re HTML5 and modern browser standards.

Hi René,
It's interesting that you've got a device here that runs Windows. I'm wondering why they would consider moving to a Web Application.
In terms of UI Windows and Web are pretty much the same, but running in a Browser is generally more restrictive than running as a Form.
There might be other good reasons to move to a Web Application, easy deployment, being device independent, I'm just saying I would carefully consider the pro's and con's.
Cheers,
Danny

Rene,
We upgraded to the Symbol MC92N0 (https://www.zebra.com/us/en/products/mo ... c9200.html). The outside layout of the scanner is the same to the previous models but with new internal hardware. We then purchased and installed the Zebra Enterprise Browser which will run HTMl5 & therefore run the VL Web.
Hope this helps.
