Anyone storing VL Dev licenses on a windows server?

Post by atostaine »

My server is local but the host I need to work on is on a VPN. So I have to connect to the VPN to check in objects but then I lose contact with the license server. V15 IDE has crashed a few times, error says there's been a problem with the license server and it has to terminate. It loses all of my setting changes, code changes, etc.

This project is only a few days I might consider asking support for a temporary local license.

I may not be understanding your setup correctly but why not get a VLN for your own PC? You apply your VLN to your own PC and in the development license studio, set your host server to your own PC as the host type (not local), refresh and press the button to use licenses server <your PC>.
Or perhaps close the IDE before getting on the VPN and if you log in OK after you're on the VPN (no license error) you should be sweet to checkin.
I think...I haven't tried any of this :-)

Yes i had to get a VLN for my local Pc. I prefer to host it in a server as I have a few pc’s around my house that I use for development.
