I am having a problem with msi update packages created with the deployment tool. After downloading and installing the update, the program will run after the installation finishes. However, this is the only time the program will run, as no desktop shortcut to launch the program is created, hunting down and running the x_run.exe application in the installation folder causes an error, and the application is no longer visible in the Windows Start menu. The only thing the Start menu shows is the Uninstall feature for the application.
This problem is starting to occur on my co-workers systems as well when they try to create update packages. We are using Lansa V13SP2. Any help on this issue would be appreciated.

Re: VL IDE Deployment Tool: x_run.exe broken
Is this for a JIT deployment? We are on V15 and I know somewhere around V13 or V14 the Deployment tool changed. I remember having to call support when we updated because the complete methodology for deployments changed.
On our JIT Deployment our packages have versions (1.0.0.0). You can either create an incremental patch (1.0.0.1) which will update the objects in the package or create a whole new version (2.0.0.0) which will use version (1.0.0.0) as a base but it will reinstall the application. All further patches have to be created off the new version.
I hope this helps.

Re: VL IDE Deployment Tool: x_run.exe broken
x_run needs a start file, usually strfile.1, something like that.
The Deployment tool has an option to create a desktop shortcut. Is that still checked? Post your screen shot and as much info as you can.
